Dear Mark,
Before we began our home renovation, we heard one nightmare story after another from friends who had gone through a similar project. “Never trust your contractor,” they said. “Always assume that the final bill will be 50 percent higher than the estimate,” they warned. “It will take twice as long as they say it will,” they cautioned. “And at the end of the project, you will never, ever recommend your contractor to anyone,” they declared.
So, we began our journey forewarned, with low expectations, and with more than a little trepidation. As it turns out, we needn’t have wasted our energy. Somehow, we were lucky enough to find the anti-contractor contractor. Goldsborough Design Build dispelled all the nightmare warnings we heard. Now that our project is finished, we have nothing but the highest praise for you and for your company.
Your personal involvement in every stage of our project impressed us from the start. Your willingness to meet with us every week meant a lot to us, and made this project move ahead smoothly and without surprises. Your knowledge of the details of our renovation and your willingness to give your opinion whenever we sought it were invaluable. Your advice was unfailingly superb and you saved us from making countless costly mistakes.
In addition to how much we have enjoyed working with you, we have thoroughly appreciated the chance to work with Tim Micek. He is professional, reliable, responsible, talented, and has a keen sense of what will work and what won’t. His ideas about some of the trickier parts of the project made an enormous difference in the final product, and we really came to rely on his opinion and excellent judgment in matters large and small.
The men who worked here over the months were unfailingly professional and polite. They were prompt, hard-working, neat, and friendly. They all contributed so much to our new home, and we are grateful to each of them—Milt, Enrique, Milton, Alex, Rosali, Ramon, Alex, Alex, and Osvaldo. In addition, Paul was always helpful as he came by, and weighed in with his opinion at some critical junctures during the project. Finally, Anjanette was an enormous help in sorting out all the payment and administrative matters, and is also incredibly nice. I was delighted to have the chance to finally meet her face to face when she stopped by one day.
Last, but far from least, is our site supervisor Cesar Reyes, who is now practically one of the family. He is, as you know, incredibly talented. Everyone who has come to see the final product, from our architect friends, to our kitchen designer to the Next Day Blinds guy who came today to measure for shutters, has commented on the excellent craftsmanship and top-quality work Cesar did. He cared about every detail, and worked many extra hours (into the late evenings on a number of occasions) to make sure that everything was done right. In addition to being a skilled master craftsman, he is also an exceptionally fine project manager. He coordinated the efforts of many GDB employees, subcontractors, inspectors and suppliers. It was all largely seamless and invisible to us but it required a high degree of effort and skill to make it so. He is really wonderful.
You and your staff exceeded all of our expectations, Mark, and we thank you for your excellent work. We always said this house had “good bones,” and now, thanks to you, Tim, Cesar, and the others who worked so hard here, it has realized its potential. We will enjoy your work for many years to come. We look forward to staying in touch with the friends we have made at GDB.
